John, Here are three resources to check out regarding funding AAC devices:

1. Medicare Funding of AAC Technology: http://www.aac-rerc.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=112&Itemid=129

2. Contact PRC directly. They are more than willing to speak by phone or email about funding.

3. Speak with the individual's speech language pathologist. They may have familiarity with how individuals in your area obtain AAC devices.

Because things change so much state to state in the US, it is a challenging question to answer. There are funding assistance programs, but usually AAC devices are funded through health insurance or schools. Good luck.

I was told by soemone that a Vantage Lite costs $10,000. Is there a more sophisticated version that is more expensive that the one adveritsed here? What is the cost?

I have a friend with Angelman's Syndrome? She cannot speak but does well with one these instruments at school. Is there any organization that can help her get one? The family is very limited in their resources.
